Help provide a
for children at risk
Channels’ Transportation Team picks-up perishable and non-perishable items donated by local grocers, distributors, restaurants, vending services, and catering companies and deliver to more than 70 agencies in 4 counties.
This provides hot meals to at-risk children in after school and summer programs throughout the region, but also provides other life-enhancing experiences and instructions.
Prepares and delivers over 300 backpacks weekly for children to take home. They are filled with non-perishable food items to sustain the children, and often their siblings, over the weekend until school begins again on Monday.
This program encourages all gardeners to plant an extra row of vegetables to donate, so our agencies and people in need are able to receive fresh produce in season.
This is a 6 week job-training program in food preparation and service for low-income persons. It prepares students for a career in the food service industry, leading them to self-sufficiency.
Channel’s mission is to support the needy and alleviate hunger by facilitating food-related programs. We reach those that serve agencies or networks who can assist with those experiencing food disparity.
Over the past 25 years, Channels has been instrumental in expanding the awareness of the hunger issue in our area. We have taken steps to help in resolving the problem in the Capital City region of PA.
Channels operations have continued to develop since moving into a newly renovated office, warehouse and full service kitchen in the summer of 2009. The number of donors, agencies, Channel's Care Cafe sites and catered events continue to grow. With your support Channels can continue to expand to meet the increasing need of feeding the hungry in our communities. Please call us to donate or volunteer! We would love to hear from you!
We continue to be open to new ways to serve those in need.
